Supporting God's Church in New Jersey and around the world.

Our church’s mission statement is to Love God, Reach People and Serve All. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus instructs us to share the Good News by making disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

First Methodist Church has a long and proud history of supporting Global Missionaries and their ministries. These missionaries serve in every corner of the world to reach and benefit communities that are marginalized. In addition to both financial and prayer support, we also send mission teams to various locations.

FMC is helping to spread the Good News through Faith Promise giving. Faith Promise giving is considered “the extra mile of giving” that goes above and beyond the yearly stewardship pledge. This generosity, thoughtfulness and love for the Lord has enabled our church to share the love of Christ to a hurting and brokenhearted world. Faith Promise is comprised of specific financial commitments to missionaries and monthly mission programs that rely exclusively on this generous gift.

Each year, the Missions Commission sets aside specific funds based on the total amount of Faith Promise pledges received by the congregation. These funds go directly to the 13 missionaries listed below that our church supports who live locally, nationally, and abroad and rely on this giving to spread Christ’s love and to help a hurting world. Even though we primarily plant the seeds and do not always see the harvest, this contribution is pivotal toward allowing the good news to be shared by word and by example. International Opportunities

The purpose of the “Give Ye Them To Eat” program (GYTTE) is to strengthen the capabilities of marginalized people and communities in Mexico to meet their basic needs, and to implement and sustain a just and integrated development process. “Give Ye Them To Eat” (GYTTE) was founded in 1977 as a social outreach project of the Methodist Church of Mexico to combat hunger and poverty in the rural sector. Community Development is a process which empowers people to improve the living conditions within their own culture, community and family. The GYTTE program fosters community development by offering workshops in realistic, low-cost and low-tech methods for improving daily life.

The following programs are in place to address these needs.

The LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM works with groupings of 5 to 10 families. Livestock, education and local resources are used as development tools. The livestock distributed depends upon the people’s needs and the available resources. The options include goat milk and sheep hair. The vital ingredient to ensure successful livestock production is a training program with hands-on learning experiences.

The objective of AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT is to preserve and enhance the condition of the land in order to boost agricultural production that can improve family nutrition and increase family income by teaching sustainable agricultural methods - both ancient and modern.
