Supporting God's Church in New Jersey and around the world.

Our church’s mission statement is to Love God, Reach People and Serve All. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus instructs us to share the Good News by making disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

First Methodist Church has a long and proud history of supporting Global Missionaries and their ministries. These missionaries serve in every corner of the world to reach and benefit communities that are marginalized. In addition to both financial and prayer support, we also send mission teams to various locations.

FMC is helping to spread the Good News through Faith Promise giving. Faith Promise giving is considered “the extra mile of giving” that goes above and beyond the yearly stewardship pledge. This generosity, thoughtfulness and love for the Lord has enabled our church to share the love of Christ to a hurting and brokenhearted world. Faith Promise is comprised of specific financial commitments to missionaries and monthly mission programs that rely exclusively on this generous gift.

Each year, the Missions Commission sets aside specific funds based on the total amount of Faith Promise pledges received by the congregation. These funds go directly to the 13 missionaries listed below that our church supports who live locally, nationally, and abroad and rely on this giving to spread Christ’s love and to help a hurting world. Even though we primarily plant the seeds and do not always see the harvest, this contribution is pivotal toward allowing the good news to be shared by word and by example. Local Opportunities

There are lots of ways to serve Moorestown and the surrounding communities through FMC! We have local mission opportunities such as Eyes of Our Heart and Seeds of Hope that serve in Camden, Abba’s Animals that supports area pet shelters, and we collect food to support four area food pantries. Throughout the year we also have monthly mission opportunities where you and your family can make a difference in the lives of others.

Seeds of Hope is an umbrella organization that has 3 different ministries that have been running in the City of Camden, NJ for many years.

  • South Jersey Aftercare: is an ex-offender reentry ministry for men and women returning from prison which has been in existence since 1997. We seek to facilitate and aid their transformation and reconciliation with community, family, and God through our weekly programs, transitional housing, and most importantly, the power and truth of Jesus Christ.
  • My Father's Hands: is an outreach ministry for people who find themselves on the streets of Camden that are homeless, addicted to drugs or alcohol, poor in spirit and brokenhearted. My Father's Hands has been serving people since 2003. Our desire is that they will not only be clothed and fed, but that they will be receptive to the Good News of the Gospel.
  • She Has A Name (SHAN): is a specific outreach for the ladies who find themselves in bondage to drugs and eventual prostitution. We share practical care and the unconditional love of Christ with these women who walk the streets of Camden. This outreach ministry which began in 2005.
  • Hope Thrift: is another aspect of the organization that exists to support the ministry in Camden. There are stores in Stratford and Bellmawr.

The mission commission also supports a wide variety of monthly mission programs. These programs are “hands-on” opportunities that allow for intergenerational participation of the church congregation. Some of these programs include; collecting food, clothes, and diapers to support local needs, providing Thanksgiving meals to FUMC members in need, making care and/or snack packages and distributing them to the needy, providing backpacks to kids in need, and visiting nursing homes.

National Opportunities

The mission is to build the Spiritual, Physical, Social wellbeing of Navajo Sisters and Brothers*. Four Corners Native American Ministry is an organization which focuses on the needs of the Shiprock, New Mexico community. Those issues are homelessness (winter shelter), the need for clean drinking water (water tank project), and coordinating with organizations who want to make a difference by working on minor construction projects, gathering gently used clothes/blankets, and pursuing other related efforts.

*As of 2021, the Navajo Nation has a population of 143,435 in which 36.5% of this total live below the poverty line, (more than double of the US rate of 12.6%).

International Opportunities

The purpose of the “Give Ye Them To Eat” program (GYTTE) is to strengthen the capabilities of marginalized people and communities in Mexico to meet their basic needs, and to implement and sustain a just and integrated development process. “Give Ye Them To Eat” (GYTTE) was founded in 1977 as a social outreach project of the Methodist Church of Mexico to combat hunger and poverty in the rural sector. Community Development is a process which empowers people to improve the living conditions within their own culture, community and family. The GYTTE program fosters community development by offering workshops in realistic, low-cost and low-tech methods for improving daily life.

The following programs are in place to address these needs.

The LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM works with groupings of 5 to 10 families. Livestock, education and local resources are used as development tools. The livestock distributed depends upon the people’s needs and the available resources. The options include goat milk and sheep hair. The vital ingredient to ensure successful livestock production is a training program with hands-on learning experiences.

The objective of AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT is to preserve and enhance the condition of the land in order to boost agricultural production that can improve family nutrition and increase family income by teaching sustainable agricultural methods - both ancient and modern.

To sustain and assist Christian believers and churches throughout the Middle East in their life and witness.

Endure International provides humanitarian relief, medical help and trains pastors. They reach the Muslim world through satellite TV, Facebook and other social media. Satellite television has drastically changed the media landscape of the Middle East and North Africa. Satellite dishes are literally everywhere: on rooftops, on balconies and sticking outside windows. Endure started providing a daily, solid Arabic Bible exposition partnering with Thru The Bible Radio Network on Satellite TV. This same program has been translated into 2 other Middle Eastern languages and can be found also on social media.

Our purpose is to partner with Shanxi and other Chinese provinces in developing public benefit services, acknowledging God’s gracious calling on our lives and reflecting the credibility of Christ. Evergreen consists of Christian professionals from many countries who work alongside local Chinese partners toward the enhancement and sustainability of regional economic and spiritual development. Their members are people of various professions who have a desire to provide services within the Chinese community while living out their faith. They accomplish this through medical, educational, consulting, and other public benefit programs in partnership with local government and other groups. Their passion is to impact the lives of Chinese people and, through our work together, to see China blessed.

Saving children by raising them with God’s love in orphanages, outreach, and support programs. CIN has Life Centers in Bolivia, Honduras and Chile where orphan children are raised and cared for. Through many mission projects, CIN also impacts children and families around the world. They provide clean water to communities in need through our Water Impact project. CIN also adopts villages to impact and build their community through Village Impact. They evangelize to communities to spread the Good News and equip leaders and pastors to do the same.

We want to see vibrant communities of Jesus followers among those least reached.

Go Boldly
Your Work, Your Mission

We are calling believers in this generation to step into their God-given purpose to be His witnesses through their gifts and vocations among the least-reached in every sector of society.

Sow Broadly

We live in an exceptionally exciting time — an era where technology has made it possible for every living person to have access to the written or spoken word. Help us share Christ’s love by using the right channels to touch the right hearts at the right time.

Transform Totally
Living the Gospel

You can share the love of Jesus to transform the lives of those living in both physical and spiritual poverty. Help us share a holistic gospel with the people we serve.

Rev. Roger Porquillo, (a retired district superintendent), and his wife Fe are based in Malaybalay City in the Philippines. They founded Angel UMC and the congregation consists of 16 families. In addition to this church community, there is also an outreach community in both Selae and Cabanglasan. The church supports the community in various ways via feeding programs for children, clothing and school supply drives and donations of building supplies. They recently opened a mission center in Catablaran. The purpose is to assist the indigenous people by educating them with new technology in farming. The Mission center is a place where they celebrate fellowship, hold meetings, and provide the mission team a place to stay every time they visit.
