FMC is dedicated to providing on-going opportunities for the community to improve their overall well-being through educational and hands-on events focused on primary factors of wellness, including spiritual, physical, social, environmental, financial, and mental health. The FMC Health & Wellness Fair is a time for individuals and families to pause after the busy holiday season and take time to learn practical skills to set them up for a successful and healthy 2025. The event has activities for both adults and children - at no cost!

Schedule:
8:30 – Vendor Fair and Registration in FMC Fellowship Hall
9:00-9:40 – Plenary Session in Sanctuary
9:45-10:25 – Session 1
10:25-11:00 – Vendor Fair & Free Vaccine Clinic
11:00-11:40 – Session 2
11:45-12:25 – Session 3
*Kid's activities will be provided throughout the event

Location: First Methodist Church of Moorestown.
Park in the lot off of Kings Hwy and enter via our Fellowship Hall to check-in and start the day!

Spiritual Health and Why It Matters

About the Speaker: 

Je
ssica Campbell is in her 20th year of ministry in the United Methodist Church. She is passionate about creative worship, loving all of God’s people, and faithfully proclaiming the Gospel in word and action. She has studied faith and spirituality for 25 years and believes its role in life and in community is paramount. Jessica is engaged to Paul, a fun-loving Australian, and together they have five sons! Their personal time is filled with gardening, reading, and binging shows!

Understanding Medical Insurance
Speaker: Diane Schwarz RN, MBA
Sessions: 2 & 3

This session will cover the following items: 1 An overview of the various types of medical insurance currently available. 2 The specific items you should always review before selecting a new medical insurance plan. 3 Learning how to optimize your prescription drug benefits to pay the least amount possible under your plan. 4 Knowing the one thing that all insurance companies use to determine specifically what is covered under their plan, as well as if a pre-authorization is required. 5 Understanding the importance of the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) form sent by the insurance company to you after the services have been billed by the provider on your behalf.

About the Speaker:

Diane Schwarz has 40+ years in the healthcare field. She initially worked as a staff nurse at an academic medical center, and then as a Clinical Manager for a group physican practice. Diane held various Director roles that linked clinical care with Finance. The work involved ongoing collaboration with various insurance companies to determine what services they covered and what they would cost the patient in out of pocket expenses. Her roles focused primarily on 3 things: (1) educating clinicians on how to charge correctly for the services they provided based on applicable billing and coding rules, (2) working with insurance companies to get hospital stays initially approved when a patient had to stay in the hospital, and (3) appealing denied admissions or services to get the patient's insurance company to ultimately approve care that they denied.

Dr. June is the Statewide Diversity Leadership Officer for the Center For Family focused on healthy communities through her Indigenous Cultural Lens. The rich history of NJ's tribes is an amazing foundation for spirituality and well-being.

Spiritual Health

What is spiritual health? Is it a state of bliss where we are connected to God and full of peace and joy? Or could spiritual health include flexing spiritual muscles and leaning into God and trusting during hard times?

Life is stressful; time is short. Developing a tool kit of  one-minute habits to foster calm and peace can help you find peace in life’s storms.

About the Speaker:


Suz McGroarty, PhD ABPP (Dr. Suz). Dr McGroarty is passionate about advocating for and educating psychologists and psychologists in training. She is a clinical psychologist and has an appointment as an Associate Adjunct Professor at Rowan University School of Medicine and is a former tenured Associate Professor in the Psy.D. Program in Clinical Psychology at Chestnut Hill College. She has written numerous articles and given local, regional and national presentations on topics related to integrated care, complex psychological trauma and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.  A South Jersey resident, when not working, look for her on her paddleboard exploring the bays and inlets of the NJ shore.

Early Intervention for Infants & Young Children

Are you concerned about your child’s developmental skills? There are options to receive support. This course will discuss typical and atypical infant and toddler development as well as how you can access services.

About the Speaker:
Ellen Bleidorn has been a physical therapist for over 30 years. She currently works in early intervention and several school districts in South Jersey.

Release and Relax Yoga Class
Speaker: Peggy Koenitzer
Sessions: 1 & 2

This class is to introduce yoga poses and breathing techniques that are designed to enhance strength, coordination, flexibility, balance, and relaxation. Learn to still the mind, becoming more centered and focused. Find peace in stressful situations, and also become more balanced in mind, body, and spirit. Participants should wear comfortable clothing (sweatpants or yoga pants), and no loose jewelry. Please bring either a yoga mat or a large beach towel. (I do have about 8 yoga mats that I can bring.)
